EXTRA CREDIT

1. Explain what happened to the man that was killed by the subway and how the photographer was able to take the photo.
The man got in a fight with someone and got pushed into the subway and instead of helping the man up the photographer took a picture of him seconds before his death of the train running over him.
2. Why did the photographer say he took the photo?
He took it to capture the last seconds of the mans life and to alert the driver of the train that something was wrong by using the flash of his camera.
3. Do you think the photographer should have taken the photo?
Im sure there was other people around that didn't help also so i don't see anything wrong with taking the photo, it is basically one of a kind but i would have at least tried to help.
4. Do you think the photographer did the best thing he could have done in this situation? Why or why not?
No i don't think the photographer did the best he could have done in his situation because he should have at least help the guy get up from the train railway.
5. Do you agree or disagree with the decision to run the photo on the front page of the New York Post? Explain why or why not.
I disagree with the decision to run that photo on the front page of the new york post because that is pretty messed up to do that to a guy who was helpless and for the photographer not to have helped.
6. What is more important to a photojournalist, capturing images of life as it happens or stopping bad things from happening? Why or why not?
Yes it is important to them but they are still human and most have instincts to help someone in trouble but when they know they can't do anything they do what they can do best and take pictures.
7. Do you think it is ever ethically acceptable for a photographer to involve himself/herself in a situation that he or she photographs? Explain why or why not.
I think it doesn't matter, anyone can do what they want and its ethically acceptable cause they are just trying to provide you with whats happening.
8. Should photojournalists always avoid influencing events as they happen? Explain your answer.
Yes because they shouldn't make the event worse, they should just be there to take the pictures.
9. After reading the responses from the professional photographers, what stands out as the most appropriate response for a photographer to this situation.
That the photographer did all he could in the situation that he was in and so all he could do was warn the train driver with the flashes of his camera.
